Pride Youth Games is for all young people aged between 13-25 who identify as LGBT+. It’s a great opportunity to try some new sports or perfect skills you have already, to meet new people, and most of all, to have some fun!

Well done to Work It Out (Blackburn) for winning the Youth Group to Be Proud of Award at the Pink Box event last Saturday, and to B You (Wigan) for coming second and Out ‘n’ About (Blackpool) for coming third.


A massive well done to all ten LGBT youth groups who entered the 2016 Pink Box Competition. The winners were Wednesday’s (Stockport), in second place was Work it Out (Blackburn), and third place went to Afternoon TEA (Greater Manchester trans youth group).

We are delighted that our friends at The People’s History Museum have received £63,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund to create Never Going Underground: The fight for LGBT+ rights, a large exhibition and events programme commemorating the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of male homosexual acts in England and Wales (1967 Sexual Offences Act).

Each year this event marks both LGBT History Month (February) and International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia & Transphobia (IDAHO May 17th).

All youth projects and schools groups across the North West are invited to create an entry for the Pink Box competition.

This year’s event is being held on Saturday 14th May 2016, 2-5pm and being hosted in Accrington by the Blackburn Hyndburn and Ribble LGBT Youth Group.

Also on the day, the winners of the Being Proud Awards will be announced. There are four categories:

  • Young Person to be Proud of
  • Friend, Family or Supporter to be Proud of (The Jaye Bloomfield Award)
  • Youth Worker to be Proud of (The Jan Bridget Award)
  • Youth Group to be Proud of

This year the Manchester World AIDS Day partnership are holding a special young persons event to explore the theme of positive relationships. And it’s FREE to take part.

The day starts with a film screening and discussion on the topic of HIV / AIDS and how far we’ve come since the 80′s, then continues with food, badge making and discussion at Sidney Street LGBT cafe. The afternoon session with be active and creative considering different perspectives on HIV, AIDS and healthy relationships.
