Happily Ever After | The Proud Trust

‘Happily Ever After’ is a show for children based on the book ‘King and King’ by Linda De Haan and Stern Nijland and is a beautiful, funny and delightful twist on the traditional fairytale in a pioneering  primary schools project.

The schools project was delivered in primary schools in Cheshire West in October 2014 involving a visual wordless performance (30 mins) with wrap around, peer-led workshop activity delivered by lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans young people who have been trained as Peer Educators.

“We all had a fabulous day on Wednesday – thank you! The drama was excellent and I was so proud of how the children watched, listened and responded. They tell me that not having words made it much more interesting, thought-provoking and meaningful as they had to add their own words to the actions – “Actions speak louder than words” as one of the Y5s put it! It was great giving the children the opportunity to speak to the actors about the play and it was fabulous having Ebony and Daniel [Peer Educators] there to tell about their experiences – so brave of them. Each class thoroughly enjoyed their activities.” Yvonne Elliott, Head Teacher, Cuddington Primary School

A short documentary of the project was made:

There are plans to further tour the show and education workshop in 2015.
